The Bear Den is a charmingly rustic Bed & Breakfast located in a hamlet called "les Plautus". It is conveniently situated just three minutes away from the Orcières ski resort and its 100 kilometers of pistes. A shuttle bus stops at the nearby bus stop several times a day and can take you for free to the resort, but if conditions allow, it's also quite easy to just walk there, and you'll be at the foot of the pistes in less than 10 minutes!
This B&B is built in a traditional alpine property and offers spectacular views over the mountains of the Champsaur Valley, and you're just a few kilometers away from the wonderful Ecrins National Park, the largest mountain park in France.
David is the owner of this place and he's a very hospitable person. Everything at the Bear Den is designed to make the residents feel at home in a cosy and rustic environment. In the main room, there's a large open fireplace (always very nice in the winter after a day skiing on the pistes or doing activities in the snow!) and a large table where breakfasts and dinners are served. This living / dining room really is the true beating heart of the house and is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious cheese fondue or raclette while the snow is falling outside.
There are 4 different bedrooms in the house, and they all have a private bathroom and toilet. Don't expect 4 star luxury at the Bear Den but be prepared to live a truly authentic alpine experience in this very unique place nested at the end of the beautiful Champsaur Valley!

The Honey Jar is an ensuite family room for three with a double and a single pull out child's bed.
The Bear's Den is the largest room in the building. It offers 3 double beds and enough space to sleep up to 6 people. A perfect place for large families! This room has a private bathroom and WC in the corridor.
The Three Bears room is ensuite with one double and one single bed with the possibility to add a child's pull out bed. From the window you'll be able to enjoy spectacular views over the Ecrins National Park!
The Grizzly room is an ensuite bedroom with one double bed, one single bed and bunk beds, making it the ideal configuration for a family with young children. Not to mention the great views over the surrounding mountains, right from the window!
You are staying at the Bear Den on a room only basis.
It is possible to book breakfasts and evening meals directly with the owner. The breakfast is a continental one and costs 7,5€ per person.
The owners cook all meals with home made food and local products and especially enjoys cooking cheese-based specialities such as raclette and fondue. The kitchen is right by the dining room. The evening meal includes cheese and dessert options, and wine and other beverages are additional. Dinner is usually served at 20H00.

Check-in at the Bear Den takes place between 16H00 and 18H00. If you're planning on a late arrival, please let us know so we can contact the owner and arrange your arrival accordingly.
Check-out is until 10H00 on the day of your departure.
Please make sure you pay all your food related expenses (breakfasts, dinners, additional drinks & beverages, etc.) directly to the owner before you leave.
Please note that is possible to bring your pets with you for an extra 5€/day fee.
