All the specialist and technical equipment you will need for any of the activities organised by Undiscovered Mountains will be provided, eg ice axes, crampons, harnesses, helmets, skis, mountain bikes, wetsuits, ropes, kayaks etc., unless otherwise specified. If you want to bring your own equipment that's no problem!
What clothing and personal equipment you need to bring will depend on what activity you are doing and what time of year you are traveling. Generally the weather is dry and sunny, cold in winter and hot in summer. However, it is the mountains so storms do happen! We've put together some kit lists for the most popular holidays and activities to help you do your packing!
In general a good rule of thumb is to bring layers starting with a good wicking t-shirt, thermal, fleece, duvet jacket (if winter or doing summer mountaineering) and waterproof shell.
For trousers, again depending on what time of year it is good to bring a few possibilities from shorts through to thermals and waterproof trousers. In general stretchy and good wicking material is most comfortable.
Footwear is very important and it is recommended to choose the most appropriate footwear for the activities you will be doing and wear your shoes, trainers or boots in before coming. Some specialist footwear, like mountaineering boots used for ice climbing or alpinism are very expensive so it is not worth investing in buying if you are just trying the activity out. These are available to hire in the area.
