Duncan Smith - Ski Touring in the Queyras

March 2022

Overview

Just returned from a weeks ski touring with Undiscovered Mountains in the Queyras. Despite a lack of snow, it was one of the best things I have every done! The guides (Bernard and Philippe) had to change the planned itinerary to chase what snow there was. We all had a great time with challenging assents and some good skiing on variable snow conditions. The group was split on most days to allow the more experienced skiers additional trips/summits and more ski time.

We did lose a couple of people during the trip due to injury/fitness and lack of experience. I would say, make sure you have the requisite off piste ski ability and a high level of fitness for this trip.

It was the first time I had booked as a solo person on a group trip but the mixed group (age and ability) were great.
Bernard and Philippe were fantastic guides and were really part of the group. Sallys hosting, organisation and communication were excellent and the whole trip was wrapped in a friendly package.

I can't recommend these guys enough and The Queyras Regional Park is a slice of mountain paradise!
