Holiday Summary:

You will stay in two main accommodation bases for this trip in the beautiful towns of Gap, the capital of the Hautes Alpes department, and Sisteron, the gateway to Provence. These strategically positioned bases provide access to some of the best electric mountain biking rides in the area, starting in the Alps and gradually moving down to Provence.

Your guide will take you out each day to discover a route in a different part of the mountains starting in the Alps on the edge of the snowcapped high mountains of the Ecrins national park and finishing in the lavender fields of Provence taking in wild and unspoilt areas like the Gorges de la Méouges, Ceuse, Devoluy and the Montagne de Lure along the way.

The aim is to stay off-piste as much as possible using the multitude of forest trails, mountain paths and trails criss-crossing the mountains.  The technical level is easy to moderate with forest pistes and some accessible single track to add a bit of fun and the odd challenge to your trip.

Expect to experience magnificent panoramic mountain views, dramatic cliff faces, stunning gorges, beautiful wild forests and woods, lakes to take a dip in, lavender fields and orchards and there's even a historical monument to discover at the end of your trip! You will be riding through wolf country so wildlife is abundant all the way along with, amongst others: chamois, wild boar, mouflon, deer, foxes, eagles, vultures and of course wolves.

Holiday Highlights:

  • Stunning and varied terrain from snowcapped mountains to large fruit lined valleys and lavender fields
  • Off the beaten track - you will be heading on trails and tracks exclusive to this trip
  • Experienced local guide who knows the area like his back garden
  • Flexibility to adapt the route to make the most of the conditions
  • Ethical travel company (carbon offsetting included and single use plastic free picnic lunches using re-usable containers)

Why Choose Electric Mountain Biking?

Electric mountain biking has massively taken off in the Alps and we know why! Electric mountain bikes have an integrated battery power that you can turn on as much as you like for an extra boost to your own human effort. They go a maximum of 25km per hour and you still have to pedal, but the extra help makes going uphill a dream and for mountain biking in particular, technical obstacles become much more accessible!

One of the biggest advantages of electric mountain biking is that they make mountain bike routes accessible to mixed ability groups who previously could not ride together as everyone uses as much or as little of the available assistance as they require!

Once you have tried electric mountain biking, you will never turn back!

Who Will Love This Trip?

You need to know how to ride a bike and ideally have done some mountain biking but don't need a lot of mountain biking experience to enjoy this trip as you will quickly pick up tips and techniques along the way. Fitness is important as you still need to pedal but again, you don't need to be an endurance athlete to be able to appreciate the biking on this trip.

Experienced mountain bikers who have less energy than they used to, beginner mountain bikers with a desire to get out into the wilds of the mountains and countryside and groups or families with teenagers of mixed ability will love this trip!
