Keith and Kirsty - Alps to Provence Mountain Biking Tour

June 2019

Overview

We’re just back from an excellent week riding the Alps-Provence route.  The riding offered a bit of everything, from quiet back roads to steep rocky singletrack, and the provided IGN maps meant we were able to explore a bit ‘off route’ as well.  Despite being a relatively quiet area there are plenty of waymarked VTT (mountain bike) trails – the provided routes followed some of these but we also took a couple of diversions where it looked tempting.

Each day had its own standout moments – this is a beautiful area and it’s worth just stopping to soak up the views now and again.  The wild flowers and alpine meadows were also putting on a good show for us which added to the whole experience.

The accommodation was varied but all of a good standard.   Some nights are in hotels with pools, others in B&B type accommodation where we dined with our hosts – a basic level of French will help for those nights!

This was our first self guided trip after having done a few guided trips with other well known companies.  The whole team at Undiscovered Mountains did a great job, from the first enquiry to the very end of the trip.  We always felt like we were being looked after and even though we were on our own on the bikes it was reassuring to know that help was available if we had needed it.
