You can really say you've reached the end of the road when you arrive in Les Damias! This lovely hamlet, located in what is probably one of the most preserved areas in the Southern French Alps, was fully deserted in the 60's amidst a widespread rural exodus which depopulated the French countryside. For years and years, only the local farmer's sheep would come and graze around what used to be the main farmhouse of the hamlet.
Thankfully, Rob and Caroline, a lovely young couple who fell in love with this very unusual place, decided in the early 80's to settle down there and spend all their time and money into a large scale renovation project. They started with the farmhouse itself, and added other features and accommodations along the process, thus creating a small village of their own, which nowadays consists of a variety of cabins, yurts, tents, and even an antique caravan! All in all, about 40 people can now reside in the Damias complex.
Their and their son Julien's lives now revolves around this beautiful corner of the world. They use the word "friends" when talking about their guests, they grow most of the food they need for themselves and their clients, and they developed a unique, almost autarkic lifestyle based on organic agriculture, short food circuits and ecology.
The variety of rooms we use at Les Damias (including the yurt, which we highly recommend if you're travelling as a family) are rustic but comfortable rooms that can house single travelers, couples or families of up to 5.
The location of Les Damias, in the heart of the natural park of Les Baronnies Provençales, and the hospitality of its owners make it an ideal place to stay towards the end of our brand new E-Bike tour!

If you're looking for a very unusual experience, you should try spending the night in this beautiful and comfortable yurt! It is large enough to accommodate up to 4 people thanks to its double bed and two single beds. It is based on the campsite of Les Damias and as such, you can use the campsite's lavatories and kitchen!
