In search of a bit of a challenge this summer I ascended the Dome Des Ecrins with wonderful guides Bernard and Pierre. After never having worn a pair of crampons before, we had a fun and well scaffolded introduction to mountaineering skills on our two day acclimatisation.
The third day began with a 3am wake up call and our main objective of reaching the summit of the Dome Des Ecrins. This is an experience I will never forget. The views were spectacular and changed by the minute and due to having a few height related wobbles, the most challenging experience I've had so far. I felt well prepared and supported by Bernard and would highly recommend Undiscovered Mountains for anybody planning their first mountaineering experience.
