The Tvete family have owned and run this hotel since 1950 and have earned a solid reputation for friendly and welcoming hospitality.

The building is classic Norwegian architecture with light and airy rooms and there are magnificent mountain views from the dining room and sitting room which also has a welcoming open fire. The perfect place to relax after a day out on the pistes cross country skiing! 

In true Norwegian style the hotel has saunas available to use for free as well as a gym and the possibility to book massages. Complimentary teas and coffee are always available in the lounge. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

There are 56 en-suite rooms with a range of twin, double and family rooms. There are two wings to the hotel, The east wing dates back to 1964 and the West wing was built in 1976, but both have been recently refurbished. The West wing rooms are slightly larger and have heated bathroom floors. 

The hotel is situated on the Venabygdsfjellet plateau at the southern edge of the Rondane National Park, 78kms north of Lillehammer. This special mountain area is a beautiful wild area with lakes, streams, waterfalls and summits all around! 

The hotel welcomes wheelchair users and hosts guests for the disabled winter games at the end of every winter.

10 × East Wing - Ensuite Double / Twin Room (sleeps 2)

There are four double rooms with double beds and six twin rooms which can also be made into double beds. All the rooms are large enough for a cot in addition and have an ensuite bathroom. They have a view to the north.

There are 10 single rooms all with a south facing view and ensuite bathrooms with heated floors.

36 × West Wing - Ensuite Double / Twin Rooms (sleeps 2)

There are 36 ensuite rooms. Most of these have twin beds that can be made into a double bed. The bathrooms all have heated floors. It is possible to add an additional bed.

6 × West Wing - Ensuite Double / Twin Corner Rooms (sleeps 4)

There are 6 of these larger corner rooms which are adapted for wheelchair users. They have a double bed which can also be separated into twins and a double sofa bed in each room. The bathrooms have heated floors.

3 × West Wing - Ensuite Family Rooms (sleeps 5)

There are 3 family rooms which consist of two adjacent rooms with an adjoining door and shared bathroom which has a heated floor. There are twin beds that can be made into a double bed in each room as well as a sofa bed and the possibility to add another single bed.

The Venabu hotel is well known for high quality Norwegian food. You can be room only, bed and breakfast, half board or full board at the hotel. Please check what your package includes when you book.

All meals are served in a buffet style with a generous range of different local dishes to choose from.

There are always a variety of vegetarian dishes available and other dietary requirements can be catered for. Please request any dietary needs when you book.

Dogs are allowed in some of the rooms but this must be requested at the time of booking and there may be a supplement to pay.
