The Faranchin was one of the first big hotels built near the famous freeride ski resort of La Grave and has recently been taken over by the next generation of the Amieux family, son David and his wife Sabrina.
They have been gradually refurbishing the hotel to bring it up to a 3 star standing and it now boasts a beautiful restaurant, 16 Alpine style cosy rooms (more to come) with brand new bathrooms and a comfortable lounge area and bar. All rooms have a flat screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Welcome toiletries are included in the bathrooms.
David is well known for his delicious food and being born and bred in the hotel environment, knows how to look after his guests. Sabrina is a well-being professional and part of their refurbishment plans will include a spa and massage and treatment space - watch this space for developments!

The hotel is perfectly situated in the pretty Alpine village of Villar D'Arene with its church, traditional bread oven, newsagent, sports shop and a couple of other bars and restaurants. Villar D'Arene is at the top of the Briancon and Serre Chevalier valley, near the famous mountain village of La Grave and the majestic Ecrins mountains of La Meije and next to Tour de France cycling passes, the col du Lauteret and Col du Galibier.
With one of the last remaining community owned cable cars (rather than having been swallowed up by a big global ski lift operator) in neighbouring La Grave giving access to the Meije glacier this is a fabulous location for off piste and freeride skiing, ice climbing and ski touring in the winter and summer mountaineering, cycling and downhill biking.

There are 10 twin or double rooms with a south facing balcony with beautiful mountain views. Each room has twin beds that can be joined to make a large double bed. The bathroom is ensuite with a shower, sink and toilet. One of these rooms has been adapted for wheelchair users.

There are 6 rooms with twin beds that can be attached together to make a comfortable double bed. All rooms have an ensuite bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. All rooms have a mountain view from the window. These rooms are slightly smaller than the rooms with balcony.

Spacious family room with 3 separate sleeping areas, each with a double bed (possibility for one bed to be replaced with twin beds) and a shared ensuite bathroom and toilet.
The hotel has a restaurant where you can eat a la carte or opt for a half board deal with a fixed menu. David uses local produce wherever possible and has an excellent reputation locally for good food!
