The Hotel Les Chenets has been a local institution for almost a century. It is located in the heart of Saint-Julien, a very picturesque little village in the wonderful Champsaur Valley, surrounded by countryside and mountains.
The beautiful on-site restaurant appears on several famous French gastronomic guides (Gault&Millau, Guide Michelin) and has a reputation of excellence in the whole region. The chef Hervé Guérin has travelled all over the world and notched up 20 years of gourmet cuisine experience in the "Relais et Château" before choosing this quiet mountain hamlet to set up his own business. He is passionate about food and even if you don't reside in the hotel, it is worth visiting the restaurant during your stay in the Champsaur to experience his great cuisine.
His wife Danielle will look after you during your stay and will make sure you have everything you need. She is also front of house in the restaurant!
Half the hotel's rooms were renovated a few years ago with new bathrooms and a more modern design. There is a certain vintage feel in the whole building, but that's what makes the whole place so charming, and everything is well maintained and clean. All the rooms are ensuite and equipped with a flat screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Most rooms also offer a small balcony facing south. There is a covered car park for the customers of the hotel.
All in all, the Hotel Les Chenets is a perfect place to stay for a great value for money activity holiday - and a delicious gastronomic adventure! In the summer, the lovely "Plan d'eau du Champsaur" swimming-lake is literally 4 minutes away, and all activities we run in the Champsaur Valley are less than 20-25 minutes away. In the winter, you have access to several ski villages in less than 20 minutes, and our favourite ski resort (Orcières 1850) is about half hour away.

There is an excellent on-site restaurant in the hotel with a solid reputation for gourmet food. It is possible to eat a la carte in the restaurant or be on a half board deal if you reside at the hotel. 3 different menus are available, from 23€ to 39€ per person. The wine cellar offers great bottles from Burgundy, Bordeaux and other prestigious wine regions of France.
