The Annapurna Mon Village is an amazing little gem set up by Thomas, a French ex-NGO worker in Nepal, and Basanta, a Nepali tourism entrepreneur from Pokhara. In 2012 the two friends decided to create this guest house in Ghachowk, Basanta's native village.
They set about renovating the traditional stone & wooden houses of the village using Nepali craftsmen and women to keep the local style and traditional techniques but with the mod cons we have become accustomed to in the west. Electricity is generated from solar panels and there is even wifi!
There are 12 rooms (double or twin beds) in 3 different houses, including 5 rooms with ensuite bathrooms and 7 other rooms. Another house is used for the restaurant and can be used for seminars, meetings and screening. They offer Nepali and continental food made from local products and organic vegetables grown in their garden.
It is the perfect place to stay for trekking and access to some of the lesser known and more remote routes.
Facilities and equipment included:
Bedding, On-Site Restaurant, Private Garden, Sheets, Wi-Fi
Facilities and equipment at extra charge:
There are seven standard twin or double rooms with shared bathroom facilities
There are five of these rooms with bathrooms attached.
You can stay on a bed and breakfast, full or half board basis here. Food is local Nepalese with a twist of French and uses local organic produce form the garden wherever possible.
