Immerse yourself in an unforgettable adventure week in the French Alps, blending world-class climbing with exhilarating outdoor activities. Set in the scenic limestone cliffs of Orpierre, the wild Ubaye Valley, and the Champsaur region, this holiday is designed for climbers of all levels who want to challenge themselves and master new skills. Beyond the climbing, paddleboard on the pristine waters of Lake Serre-Ponçon, experience thrilling canyoning, and take on a scenic via ferrata route—all with expert guidance to ensure safety and fun.
This fabulous itinerary was originally crafted as a private adventure by a group of clients who first met on our via ferrata short break. They designed this exciting journey together and have now opened it up for others to join, making it a unique, community-inspired experience.
We use fully qualified and experienced local high mountain guides, climbing and paddleboarding instructors for the activities on this trip to ensure your safety.
For the climbing, which is the main activity of this adventure week they will show you the most recent techniques and equipment to optimise your safety whilst climbing and reinforce your safety procedures to help you develop good habits for safe climbing. The aim here is to prepare everyone with the skills to manage a multi pitch route independently and safely. The number of people per guide is maximum 8 with maximum 4 for the big multi-pitch route day.
For the canyoning, via ferrata and paddleboarding, the guides and instructors will take charge and all you have to do is follow the instructions and enjoy!
This trip is ideal for adventurous climbers—from beginners (with experience of indoor climbing) to experienced enthusiasts—looking to improve their technique, confidence, and rope skills in an inspiring alpine setting. Outdoor lovers who enjoy variety will appreciate the mix of climbing, water sports, and high-altitude thrills, making it perfect for those seeking an active, skill-building holiday with plenty of variety.
Our adventure week is crafted with sustainability at its core. You'll stay in a locally owned hotel within walking distance from the train station, making it easy to arrive by train—a choice we encourage with a 3% discount for those who travel this way. By using a single base for the week, we reduce unnecessary washing and cleaning, minimising our environmental footprint.
Transport is grouped in a modern, well-maintained vehicle to reduce emissions, and we work closely with local guides and recommend local restaurants, ensuring that every aspect of the trip supports the community and protects the alpine landscape.
