The Yurts

The Yurts

The Yurts are a Mongolian style nomad accommodation. They are constructed using a circular wooden frame covered with layers of felt with a waterproof outer canvas. They are designed to be transportable but also strong enough to stay in one place for a good length of time and withstand cold and hot temperatures, strong winds and the demands of a family.

They have been used for thousands of years by the nomads of Central Asia

Inside you have a proper bed and furniture but no electricity so candles and lamps are used - perfect for a romantic break in the mountains!

There are four yurts in the field and they all have access to Sandrine's Stables with a toilet and shower area and a spacious vaulted room (renovated in the old stables) with tables and chairs, sofas and a mezzanine area with a Bedouin style tent that can also be used for sleeping in. There is a wood burning stove for cooler evenings. Breakfast is served in this room.

In this building there is also a kitchen with fridge, freezer, oven, hob, kettle and coffee machine so you can self cater if you wish.

The accommodation is on a bed and breakfast basis and Sandrine who runs the yurts also proposes evening meals if you prefer not to cook.

The Yurts are only available in the summer but it is possible to stay in the vaulted stables area in the winter. Have a look at Sandrine's stables in our accommodation section.

In the summer the Lac de Serre Ponçon is only a 20 minute drive away which is great for water sports or relaxing on one of the beaches. Other activities such as horse riding, canyoning and via feratta are easily accessible - a perfect location for a summer activity holiday.
