Progress your white water kayaking skills from grade II to grade III rivers and enjoy the fabulous white water of the Alps with like minded paddlers!
Location: Range of rivers in the Southern French Alps
This is a progressive week of white water kayaking in the Alps aimed at paddlers who have mastered the basics of white water kayaking and want to gain confidence and progress to make the most of the bigger rapids and rivers of the Alps.
If you can break in and out and ferry glide across a grade two river but are struggling to roll or stay on a play-spot for more than a few seconds, then this course is for you!
The Southern French Alps is famous world wide for its fabulous white water with everything from high volume, big bouncy rapids and tight technical rocky rivers to gentle ambling rivers with a few interesting rapids that wind their way through the dramatic Alpine scenery!
The best thing about kayaking in the Alps is having great water levels in the summer so you can paddle with the heat of the sun on your back! This is because the rivers are fed by melting snow and ice from the glaciers in the mountains. This is a relatively stable pattern over the spring and summer so paddlers are not reliant on unpredictable rainfall.
Our fully qualified and local instructors will take you on a journey exploring the best grade 2 to 3 rivers in the Alps. They will help you to learn to read the river and it's many obstacles, learn new skills and techniques and put them into practice so that you can master the art of kayaking and playing on the rapids.
Have a look at our kayaking kit list for advice on what to pack.
If you are a total beginner and are coming with your family or a group of friends, you may also be interested in our Kayak the Alps - Beginners (tailor made) course or combining some kayaking with our Summer Multi Activity holiday.
