In the heart of the Hautes-Alpes, next to the town of Embrun, overlooking Lake Serre-Ponçon, a medieval castle offers nine charming guestrooms and suites. Water and mountain sports are all in close proximity. It is located at the entrance to Ecrins National Park.
The Château is a majestuous building and a historic jewel of the Hautes-Alpes. As you enter the grounds of the Château, you will discover pools and fountains, flower beds framed by boxwood in the French Garden, cobblestone walkways, orchards, pond, fields and wooded areas.
Nine charming and tastefully decorated guestrooms and suites are available. All rooms have private bathrooms and study areas with internet connection. The suites include extra beds in their adjoining rooms. An independent apartment is also available in the 18th-century annex in the castle courtyard.

The Louis XVI Suite is a grand room with a 18th century decor and a wood-beamed ceiling. It is spacious and sunny and opens onto the garden of the Castle to the south via a large veranda. It includes a desk and a lounge area, an extra double bed and a luxury bathroom.
The "Illustre Inconnu" (the Illustrious Unknown) is a spacious ensuite double room with a Renaissance atmosphere and a large decorative fireplace. It includes a four-posted bed as well as a wood-beamed ceiling.
The Boniface Suite is a bright bedroom located in the round 13th century watchtower looking south onto the garden of the Castle. It includes a desk, 19th century larch wood floors as well as an extra single bed.
The Chabrière Suite is a spacious and beautifully decorated suite with a view to the north overlooking the spectacular Serre-Ponçon Lake. It includes two extra single beds in the adjoining 16th century turret.
The Mont Guillaume Suite is a spacious and beautifully decorated suite with a view to the north overlooking the beautiful Serre-Ponçon lake, the largest dammed lake in Western Europe. It includes two extra single beds in the adjoining 16th century turret.
The Morgon room is a spacious and sunny room facing the forest and the Alps to the west. It has a wonderful original wood-beamed ceiling.
Les Accouchements is a bright room which used to be the birthing room in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It faces west and the beautiful sunsets over the spectacular Serre-Ponçon Lake.
The Montagnette room is a spacious and sunny room facing the forest and the Alps to the west. It has a wonderful original wood-beamed ceiling.
The Annexe is a small apartment in the Castle annex with an independent entrance through the eastern courtyard. It includes a kitchen and living room area and a fold-out couch downstairs, and a bedroom and bath upstairs. It is ideal for a couple with space for two children. Residents can use the courtyard and barbecue in the summer months.
The owners Jacques and Sharon offer a hearty breakfast made with local products and from their own production around the Castle.
Restaurants are also available for lunch and dinner in the nearby village of Crots within walking distance.

The Picomtal Castle Bed and Breakfast operates between April and October.
Check-in is between 4pm and 8pm and check-out is until 11am. Please let us know if you will be arriving outside of these hours so we can arrange an early or late entry for you.
Pets are allowed by request only and exclusively in the "Annexe" Apartment.
