Snowshoe through the pristine winter wildernesses of the Southern French Alps with an experienced mountain guide and wildlife expert and discover the husky sledding - a must try, bucket list Alpine experience. Your base for this trip is Gap, the adventure capital of the Southern French Alps, with its many bars, restaurants, boutique shops and pedestrianised squares, perfect for people watching! You can enjoy your evenings in Gap, with a cosy meal in one of the vaulted restaurants, explore the bars or even go for a night out at the theatre or cinema whilst you are here. 

Gap is perfectly positioned with the limestone Devoluy massif, the Champsaur and Valgaudemar valleys and Ecrins National Park, the famous mountain of Ceuse and even the dramatic Pic d'Aiguilles overlooking the Serre Poncon lake all within a stone's throw. We'll choose which areas have the best conditions for our snowshoe walks each day of this trip with the aim of exploring the magnificent variety of diverse landscapes on our doorstep.

The second day of this trip will include a trip to try husky sledding, either as a passenger in a sled or driving your own team of huskies. This is a fabulous experience to add a bit of variety and adventure to your snowshoeing days. It is possible to opt out of this and do a self guided snowshoe walk around the husky sledding area if you prefer.

Who Will Love this Trip

If you love walking and hiking and want to discover the mountains in winter without skiing, you will love this trip.You don't need any experience of snowshoeing as it is very easy to pick up but will need a good level of fitness to be able to enjoy a day out in the mountains. You will be based in Gap, the capital of the Southern French Alps for this trip. Gap has a train station on the main SNCF train line which is accessible via an overnight sleeper from paris or by local train from Grenoble or Marseille. There are also buses from other major transport hubs including a direct bus from Marseille airport. Please get in touch for more information on getting here if you cannot find the transport links you need from your town or country. 

You can easily walk to the Mon Hotel from the train or bus station. It is about 5 to 10 minutes walk. If you are staying in the Olivades, you'll need to get a local taxi which will be about 10€. We can book this for you.
