Your Adventure:

We have picked our three most popular adventures and challenges which are accessible with minimal technical experience for maximum fun in the mountains and scheduled in a free half day at one of the most beautiful lakes in France, the Serre Ponçon lake, for a sunbathe, swim, kayak or paddle board.

On this adventure weekend you will:

  • Go Canyoning: Slide down natural toboggans, jump into pristine Alpine pools and abseil down waterfalls for guaranteed splashing fun and laughs
  • Climb a Via Ferrata: Test your head for heights scaling vertical cliffs, balance your way along wire bridges and enjoy an adrenalin rush zipping back down on giant tyrolean zip lines
  • Ride E-bikes: Discover the fun of e-biking on the mountain tracks and trails of the Alps.
  • Enjoy a free afternoon at the lake: Relax and enjoy the beach and turquoise waters of the Serre Ponçon lake paddleboarding, kayaking or open water swimming, or choose more adrenalin waterskiing or tubing.

The activities are all good half day activities spread over the three days. Your will be collected from your hotel in Gap each day and brought back at the end so you can enjoy the bars and restaurants of this picturesque, charming Alpine town in the warm summer evenings.

About Gap, Southern French Alps:

Gap is the adventure capital of the Southern French Alps and is the gateway to a number of different mountain ranges and the Serrer Ponçon lake with a huge range of activities and adventures on its doorstep. Your hotel is in the town centre and within walking distance from the pedestrianised old town with lanes of boutique shops, squares and sun terraces full of bars and restaurants. Gap is a dynamic town with plenty of events, street theatre and concerts planned over the spring, summer and autumn months. We will give you information on what's going on and where to eat and drink so you can make the most of the town during your adventure weekend.

Your Guides:

For the via ferrata and canyoning your guide is a fully qualified and highly experienced UIAGM high mountain guide local to the area, who speaks French and English. For the e-biking, your guide is a fully qualified and experienced local mountain bike guide who know the tracks and trails like his back garden and who also speaks French and English. Your safety and enjoyment are our top priority for all the activities.

You also have a free afternoon at the lake where you can choose to do your own thing. You can sunbathe, swim or choose one of the many water sports available at the lake  (supplement to pay for any additional activities).

Who will love this trip?

If you love a challenge and have an adventurous spirit, you will love this weekend! You don't need any experience of canyoning or via ferrata to be able to enjoy this weekend, but you do need to be able to swim and be comfortable putting your head under water for canyoning. For via ferrata you ideally need to  have a head for heights to have fun - otherwise you will be petrified! For e-biking, you need to know how to ride a bike and have had some experience on mountain bike terrain but don't need to be a mountain bike warrior. We will be using forest tracks and trails with accessible (easy) single track for some additional fun!

With three full on adventurous activities a good level of general physical fitness is essential. If you go to the gym regularly and could handle a 10k run without collapsing at the end you will be easily within your physical comfort zone.

Sustainable Tourism:

We are a Travelife certified tour operator for sustainable tourism and do everything we can to make sure your trip has a positive impact on the local community, economy and environment. We make sure your money goes straight back into the local economy by using local guides and locally owned independent accommodation for this trip rather than bringing seasonal guides from outside or using large chain hotels and vet our partners for their commitment to sustainable tourism.

Your hotel uses ecologically friendly cleaning products, is installing water saving devices and investing in energy efficiency as well as creating options for you to re-fill water bottles and making cleaning and linen changes optional during your stay. Your guides use modern well maintained vehicles and are all passionate about nature and the environment, sharing this passion with you and ensuring the activities cause minimal impact on the local areas.

We have also designed this trip to make it easy for you to arrive by train to Gap - see more in the getting here section.

We have used a carbon calculator tool called Carmacal. Have a look at the full carbon report for this adventure weekend or look at the summary below. We will also plant a tree on your behalf to help offset your carbon footprint for this trip.
